Toon Feud was a second-screen trivia game developed in-house for Teletoon Retro, where families competed head-to-head in live rounds of cartoon trivia. The launch of the game was timed with research indicating increased usage of tablets and smartphones during family TV-watching hours. Toon Feud featured live programming events where matches were linked to on-air programming with simultaneous trivia questions. Built for both English and French audiences, the app was designed to allow for integrated sponsorship opportunities, including branded trivia, events and games.

The App

Title Screen. The app was localized for both English and French (in Canada).

Families could create team accounts to compete against families across Canada.

Trivia questions were synced live with the broadcast channel. Additional trivia categories could be played 24/7.

Question formats consisted of multiple choice (shown), true or false, fill-in-the-blank, and spot the difference. A fuse attached to a rocket served as a countdown timer.

Correct answers were revealed with rich animation and sound.

The number of points a player was awarded was dependent on how quickly they answered. Answering faster awarded more points.

Answering incorrectly also resulting in a fun, retro animation.

No points were awarded for incorrect answers.

At the end of each round the team's score was tallied and added to their national rank.

Interstitial ads could be triggered to play after each round.

Integrated sponsorships and branding were also offered to advertisers.
